Can I watch Sky Sports in Spain?

I am an expat living in Spain and would love to watch SKY Sports, but it seems impossible. Is that because it is only available to people in England? Anything I can do about it?

Unfortunately Sky is not only hard to watch abroad, but it is very expensive, but if you are willing to pay there is a solution to your problem. There are two things you will need for this to work. The first thing you will need is a VPN subscription. When will the Christmas Tree at Trafalgar Square be lit up in 2014?

We are planning for a weekend in London in November/December, and want to look at the Christmas markets and the Christmas tree at Trafalgar Square. When is the date when the lights comes on at Christmas tree?

Thanks a lot for the question! Unfortunately that is a question that will remain unanswered for quite a while more, but still, based on experience from earlier years we do have a strong feeling concerning when the Christmas Tree at Trafalgar Square will be “turned on”, illuminated, or whatever you call it!

Take a look at the following list showing when the Christmas tree at Trafalgar Square was lit in the last years:

2013 – December 5 (Thursday)
2012 – December 2 (Thursday)
2011 – December 1 (Thursday)
2010 – December 2 (Thursday)

Based on this our feeling is that in 2014 the first Thursday in December will be the date for the lightening of the Christmas tree at Trafalgar square. If that is correct, the date for the illuminating of the Christmas tree will be December 4th. The time for the illumination is normally 17.00 (local time).

I am planning a trip to London, and would like to live in the best five star hotel in the UK capital. Which one should I choose?

That is a wonderful and a terrible question at once. First of all, it really is impossible to compare all London hotels, and secondly, it is all a personal question of taste and whether you have a good or a bad hair day. What makes it even harder, is that London is the capital of five star hotels in Europe. Just imagine the fact that while Belfast has a total of two five star hotels and Paris has somewhere around 40 five star hotels, London has a number that exceed 100 hotels with five stars. That makes it hard to give a fair answer.

However, we will recommend two hotels which be believe can both be called the best five star hotels in London. But, feel free to disagree, agree… and as you do so, please write a comment to this article!

Which is the best five star hotel in London?

Corinthia Hotel London

If you want luxury and the biggest SPA in London, then Corinthia Hotel London is the hotel in which you should stay. This fantastic looking hotel has a fantastic location in the heart of London. Attractions such as the Big Ben is only some minutes away, and if you cross the Thames you can visit the Aquarium and enjoy a ride with the London Eye easily. Some of the other fantastic features of this hotel is that it has its own hairdresser, you can of course eat in one of the restaurants of the hotel, they have free wireless Internet and it is beautifully decorated indoor by the florist of the hotel. Simply outstanding!

Hotel 41

If you feel like living a bit outside the absolute center of London, then book a room in Hotel 41 instead. This hotel is located very close to Buckingham Palace, and guests are also offered some free snacks during the day. If you come with car they offer you a parking lot (they charge you extra for this), and they have a very good working wireless Internet connection available. If you want to make your wallet happy, then this hotel is normally quite a bit cheaper that Corinthia, but maybe not as majestic, and the location might not be that good. But, based on user reviews on travel portals around the Internet, this hotel is the best of the best in London.
