Heathrow is one of the most popular airports in the world, and among the top airports in Europe. If you arrive to Heathrow you can expect it to be crowded throughout the entire day. Luckily the transportation from the airport to the city centre is very easy to arrange, especially as the airport is connected to downtown with the metro.
1) Metro (tube)
Heathrow Airport has three underground stations (for the different terminals), and these are all located in zone 6 on the public transportation system. A single ticket to London costs appx. £5 if you buy such a ticket. The Picadilly line taking you from Heathrow stops at major metro stops such as Kings Cross, Picadilly Circus, Covent garden and many other stops.
2) Heathrow Express
Heathrow Express is an express train taking you to the centre of London within 15 minutes. It leaves from the airport every 15 minutes and takes you to London Paddington. The price of a normal single far is £18.
